DHL and Teach For Uganda Empower Learners with Workplace Readiness Skills

For the past two years, DHL has partnered with Teach For Uganda to empower learners by equipping them with essential skills for workplace readiness. Initially focused on secondary school students, the collaboration provided opportunities to explore the world of work through activities that bridge classroom learning with real-life career pathways.

In 2025, the program expanded to include primary schools for the first time, ensuring that younger learners also begin developing foundational career awareness and employability skills at an early stage. This milestone marks a significant step forward, broadening the Teach For Uganda fellowship program’s reach and nurturing essential skills earlier in the educational journey.

The DHL–Teach For Uganda partnership is anchored in three core pillars that foster career readiness among learners. The first pillar is workplace visits that offer students firsthand exposure to professional settings, where they participate in interactive sessions with employees and gain insight into real-world work environments. The second pillar is career exploration activities that bridge academic learning with practical career pathways, helping learners see how classroom knowledge translates into future opportunities, and the third is mentorship and skills development, which provides continuous guidance and equips learners with transferable skills essential for long-term success.

To launch this year’s cycle, Teach For Uganda organized the first workplace visit with support from DHL. Learners toured JESA Dairy Farm in Busunju along Hoima Road, where they were able to see how a modern workplace operates, explore career opportunities in agribusiness and logistics, and connect classroom learning with practical, real-world applications. A total of 120 learners from Kojja Secondary School, Namanoga Secondary School, Sir Apollo Kagwa Secondary School, Bunakijja Primary School, Kyetume SDA Primary School, and Katosi Primary School participated in the visit.

This initiative reflects Teach For Uganda’s mission of expanding educational opportunities and preparing learners for lifelong achievement, and also demonstrates DHL’s commitment to empowering youth, developing future-ready skills, and strengthening community engagement. United in purpose, DHL and Teach For Uganda are enabling young people to explore career pathways, build confidence, and imagine brighter futures.
