The Problem

In Uganda, many learners in public schools struggle with basic literacy and numeracy, and dropout rates remain high.

Only 2.5% of the Ugandan GDP is invested in education, a far cry from the prescribed 20% of GDP.

70% of primary school children (P3-7) are unable to do basic maths or reading in basic reading skills.

65% of children drop out of primary school before graduation.

55% of primary school children (P3-7) are not competent in basic math skills.

40+ student-to-teacher ratio.

Insufficient change leaders in education for sustained and equitable change.

Schools in underserved areas face large class sizes, teacher shortages, limited learning resources, and low foundational learning outcomes. Without intervention, these gaps perpetuate cycles of poverty.
