What Can One Fellowship Start? Ask the Engineer Who Walked into One Classroom and Changed Six Schools.
2023: A chemical engineering student scrolling through LinkedIn sees a photo of people in orange shirts. “I Am Tomorrow.” He applies before he has even graduated.
We send him to Sir Apollo Kaggwa Secondary School in Mukono. There is no reliable water, no steady power, and students walk nearly 2 km to collect water.
By the end of his first year, the school had a solar lighting system, an eco-friendly cooking stove, and a 10,000-litre water tank. Five more primary schools in Mukono receive the same. And Andrew has founded the Climate Inclusion Network.

The Climate Inclusion Network now runs the Beyond Poison Project, tackling lead and mercury exposure in Kampala’s garages, scrap yards, and cosmetic markets, with support from the UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). It trains teachers in climate literacy through the Green Teacher Ambassadors Program. It has brought solar power to schools that had none.
Andrew still calls himself an engineer first. We just gave him a place to start building.
